It has the power to transform an image and make a social statement.

Has the world outgrown love and marriage? Times used to be different. People would meet someone they love, they would get married, and they would remain married until one of them died. Nowadays, half of marriages end in divorce. Being a 19 year old in university, the future just looks bleak. If I ever find someone I love and loves me, there is a good chance that we won't be together for the rest of our lives. To me that just seems sad. It's tragic. What has happened to the world? Is there no such thing as being together forever anymore?
I think the reason it's this way is because morals and committment has gone down the toilet. Society has given the OK to "ways out" and the "any thing goes". We live in a "have it your way" society where nobody believes in putting WORK into their relationships anymore. It's all about -- if I stop loving you, I leave.
Unfortunately this TEMPORARY STATE OF MIND goes across more than just marriages. Think about the working world. There was a time when a company would keep people till they retired. Now it's rare anybody stays on their job more than 3-5 years.
The bottom line is you have to create your own world and set of morals. Just because the rest of the world is a cest pool of temporary lovers doesn't mean you have to follow the crowd. Go ahead be different. Find someone who believes in REAL LOVE and then live happily ever after. The problem is most people don't know what marriage really is. TV doesn't help either. We have a young generation who are being taught by reality TV shows where people "fall in love" by being picked out of 50 people and getting married on TV (like Bachelore). Where are the examples of what it actually takes to have a long happy marriage?
Most young people don't even realize the work, sacrifice and committment it takes to have those long marriages. The minute the marriage has sour point -- the reaction is negative instead of positive. Marriage is not what you see on TV. It's not a fairy tale. Believe me if these long term marriage folks would tell their stories, they would tell you alot of stuff they went through. The difference is --- they held to the COMMITTMENT of FOR BETTER OR FOR WORSE. I know couples married 50+ years and they have had to deal with infidelity in their marriage, sickness, etc. but they stook it out no matter what.
I could go on and on....but again the bottom line is you create your world and dont follow the trend.
